Diagnos Inc. has developed a 'data mining' software system that utilizes pattern recognition algorithms to generate high-priority exploration targets from geophysical data. The key input to the process is all of the testing information (i.e. drilling) accumulated to date. In other words, the program is given a geophysical data set (such as an airborne magnetic survey) and told which anomalies have been proven positive (i.e. of economic interest) and also, just as importantly, which anomalies have been proven negative. The process, called CARDS, than analyzes the entire set, looking for more 'hits', while rejecting anomalies that are more probably misses.
Spider and KWG have been exploring the James Bay Lowlands since 1992. In the process we have acquired hundreds of thousands of line kilometers of both fixed-wing and helicopter magnetic survey data and have drill-tested scores of anomalies. Our knowledge base of this area is vast and very well suited for the CARDS process.
Our entire database was turned over to Diagnos and several new exploration targets have been proposed. The index map (above) shows the locations of ground magnetic follow-up surveys (blue squares) of six Diagnos Initiative targets.
